How We Research HVAC Schools
Every school in our directory has a current HVAC program we checked on the school's own website. Figures come from federal sources, and each one names its year.

Which Schools Are Listed?
We started from every institution that reported HVAC completions (CIP 47.0201 or 15.0501) to the U.S. Department of Education's IPEDS survey, plus schools named in our earlier profiles. A school is listed only after we found a current HVAC program on its own website. Closed programs, high-school-only programs and schools we couldn't verify are left out.
Program Facts Come From the School
Program names, credentials, lengths, topics, schedules, campuses and EPA 608 testing come from the school's official program page or catalog, reviewed in September 2026. When a school's page doesn't state a fact, we leave it out rather than guess. Wording is ours: we describe what a school says it offers, not in the school's voice.
Federal Figures
Tuition and fees, books and supplies, HVAC awards conferred, graduation rates, enrollment and whole-program prices come from NCES College Navigator. Tuition is the full-time rate for the year shown, in-district where a college publishes one. Graduation rates cover the whole school, not the HVAC program. Pay figures are BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics for SOC 49-9021, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers (May 2025). We don't publish job-growth projections from wage data.
How State Rankings Work
States with at least five verified programs that have federal figures get a ranking. Each school gets a percentile score among its in-state peers: program size (35%, HVAC awards conferred), cost (25%, lowest tuition and fees), completion (25%, school-wide graduation rate) and credential ladder (15%, both certificates and associate degrees awarded). Federal data can't measure instructors, lab equipment or job placement, so treat a ranking as a starting point and visit the lab.
City Pages
A city page lists verified programs within 60 miles of the city center, by straight-line distance. We publish a full city page only when at least two verified programs are within reach; nearby suburbs that would repeat the same list point to the stronger city page instead.

Review and Corrections
Program facts are rechecked at least every 180 days. 448 of the listed programs name EPA 608 preparation or testing today; that and every other count on the site is recomputed from the records at each build. If something is out of date, send us the page and an official source.
